    Mission: AOA was founded in 1902 and is the national medical honor society. On the “About Alpha Omega Alpha” official webpage, it is described as follows:

    Alpha Omega Alpha – Dedicated to the belief that in the profession of medicine we will improve care for all by:

    • Recognizing high educational achievement
    • Honoring gifted teaching
    • Encouraging the development of leaders in academia and the community

    Mission: The Gold Foundation infuses the human connection into healthcare.     Mission: The Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association (APAMSA) at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (MSUCHM) hopes to promote education and engagement in the unique health challenges of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities, as well as the sociopolitical issues affecting AANHPI communities and Asian populations abroad.     Mission: Our mission is to promote literacy and a love for reading among underserved children by providing access to books and fostering meaningful reading experiences. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to develop strong literacy skills, regardless of their background. Through community-driven book drives, thoughtful book distribution, and direct engagement with students, we aim to bridge the literacy gap and empower young minds through the power of reading.

    Mission: The primary purpose of CHM Serve is to administer the Pharmacy Assist program at the Care Free Clinic at 1100 West Saginaw Street, Suite 5, Lansing, MI, 48915. CHM Serve is responsible for staffing the Pharmacy Assist office on a weekly basis with volunteers, at days and hours determined by the executive board.

    Ancillary purposes of CHM Serve are to raise awareness about lack of prescription drug coverage and health insurance coverage generally, as well as healthcare challenges concerning underserved populations.

    Medical Specialty Interest Group (organization that aligns with a specific medical specialty)

    Mission: As there is little exposure to otolaryngology prior to elective rotations, this student group focuss efforts on creating exposure to this specialty early on.

    • Educational Seminars- Talks by ENT attendings and residents can expose students to the depth and breadth of otolaryngology. These seminars can also include skills sessions that can prepare students for their otolaryngology rotation.
    • Shadowing and Mentoring- We would also keep up to date about national programs like AAO's new mENTorship program that we can update group members about.
    • Research Opportunities- We aim to maintain an excel sheet of research that upperclassmen are currently engaged in so we can help first years get involved early on.

    Mission: We, students at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, establish the Grand Rapids Surgery Interest Group (GRSIG), an organization founded on the principles of service, professionalism, humility, collaboration, and critical thinking.     Mission: Our mission is to provide an outlet from the stresses of medical school and foster a community interested in the sport of golf. This group will be open to all MSU CHM students interested in learning how to play or those wanting to hone in on their craft. Since MSU CHM prioritizes the mental health of its students, golf can be a great way to help students decompress with minimal strenuous exercise and maximal socialization with colleagues and others physicians interested in the sport. In addition, in the future, we aim to utilize this club as a networking tool, with the end goal of starting an MSU CHM golf outing with MSU alumni and practicing physicians within the GR area.

    Mission: Music For Dementia aims to help residents suffering from dementia cope with memory loss and reconnect with their loved ones through a customized music program. The program focuses on each individual by providing live performances and personalized playlists. In fact, we don't just offer music, but individualized music that is personal to each resident and is more effective in improving mood, engagement, and reducing anxiety. We hope that personalized music can become an integral part of dementia care in nursing homes. Our goal is to spread awareness about the power of music in dementia care, and continue to help more people suffering from dementia benefit from a personalized music program.

    Mission: ROC amplifies diverse narratives of migrant and displaced communities through alliance and relationship building. We work to make the U.S. a more welcoming place to resettling communities and to eradicate refugee camps as a normative concept.

    The CHM ROC chapter is centered around three pillars: education, service, and advocacy. ROC strives to foster culturally conscious care by educating the greater Grand Rapids and Lansing communities about the health disparities induced by the global migration crisis. Furthermore, we aspire to serve local families through a network of medical students and physicians by providing resources and care for the recently resettled. Lastly, we advocate to eliminate prejudice and create discussion amongst our community.

    Mission: SAMSA is a national organization that aims to unify South Asian medical students across  the United States. We also aim to provide support and guidance to  medical students of South Asian descent as they enter the College of Human Medicine. SAMSA is a space for students to connect with South Asian physicians and mentors, facilitate dialogues on South Asian social justice as it relates to health equity, and to connect within and beyond CHM's campus with other medical student organizations.     Mission: The purpose of SIGN is to introduce medical students to the field of neurology by bringing them together with fellow students with similar interests through discussions by neurologists, patient presentations, seminars, journal clubs, learning materials, and arranged shadowing of neurologists in the workplace. Medical students become aware of opportunities, and participate in activities, related to the field of neurology, including opportunities for research, creating a new generation of neurologists and AAN members.

    National Organization (organization that is affiliated with a national membership organization)

    Mission: Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is committed to supporting current and future underrepresented minority medical students, addressing the needs of underserved communities, and increasing the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent and socially conscious physicians.

    SNMA chapters based at allopathic and osteopathic medical schools throughout the nation, and some colleges, implement our programs and activities locally. SNMA programs are designed to serve the health needs of underserved communities and communities of color. In addition, SNMA is dedicated both to ensuring that medical education and services are culturally sensitive to the needs of diverse populations and to increasing the number of African-American, Latino, and other students of color entering and completing medical school.

    Mission: The MSU College of Human Medicine Urology Student Interest Group (USIG) aims to provide its members ample, collaborative opportunities to learn about the diverse array of clinical, surgical, and research opportunities that one can experience in pursuing a career as a Urologist. We aim to engage with a multitude of local Urologists and through other learning opportunities outside of the classroom to help MSU CHM students to better understand the daily obligations of this field. USIG aspires to foster interest and excitement toward Urology amongst College of Human Medicine students.

    Mission: The mission of the Wilderness Medicine Interest Group is to encourage, foster, support, and conduct activities to improve the medical knowledge and skills of its members in a wilderness environment. WMIG is affiliated and aligned with the mission of the Wilderness Medical Society (WMS).

    Goals:

    • To learn practical lifesaving skills for the pre-hospital/wilderness environment
    • To encourage learning outside of the formal curriculum
    • To foster team building and problem-solving skills
