Bio

David M. Ozog, MD, FAAD, FACMS, is interim chair of the Department of Dermatology and professor of medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He also serves as the C.S. Livingood Endowed Chair of Dermatology and Chair of the Department of Dermatology at Henry Ford Health. 

Ozog earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, completed his dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, and pursued fellowship training in Mohs micrographic, procedural, and cosmetic dermatology at UCLA. 

A dedicated mentor, Ozog has trained and supported over 200 medical students, residents, fellows, and early-career faculty. He views mentorship as a foundational academic responsibility—one that fosters excellence, curiosity, and resilience across generations of clinicians and physician-scientists. 

He currently serves as assistant editor for Dermatologic Surgery and Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, and sits on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. His leadership extends to national organizations, including the boards of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He is a past president of the Michigan Dermatological Society.
