Bio
Dr. Emery graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Spectrum-Butterworth in Grand Rapids (now Corewell Health). In 2022, he transitioned from clinical practice to focus full-time on undergraduate medical education.
Dr. Emery holds a Master’s degree in Health Professions Education from the University of Michigan. He has served as Associate Chair for Academic Affairs for the Department of Emergency Medicine at CHM since 2009 and as the Medical Director for Simulation for CHM since 2013. He joined the Learning Academy as a fellow in 2020.
Previously, he served as an ABEM oral board examiner from 2001 to 2019 and as Core Faculty with the Emergency Medicine residency at Corewell Health from 2003 to 2018. During his free time, he enjoys reading, dining out, traveling with his spouse, spending time with his grandsons, and taking walks with his daughter Becca (CHM 2019) and her dog Frida in John Ball Park. Dr. Emery is very much looking forward to stepping into this new role with the college.
