Dean Rayamajhi’s Weekly Rundown
March 27, 2026
We are saddened to share the passing of John Molidor, PhD, a cornerstone of the college for over 40 years. From 1978 until his retirement in 2019, Dr. Molidor’s contributions were as vast as his connections within our community. An emeritus professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Dr. Molidor’s leadership shaped the college in profound ways. He served with distinction as the assistant dean for admissions, student affairs, and educational programs and spent more than three decades as the Flint community assistant dean. In addition to his roles at MSU, he was the former CEO of the Flint Area Medical Education, Inc., bridging the gap between academic medicine and community service. Beyond his impressive titles, Dr. Molidor was truly beloved by his students. He was legendary for his humor and his keen ability to demystify the residency interview process – turning a stressful milestone into a moment of growth and insight. His legacy of service and his unique, spirited presence will be deeply missed by colleagues, alumni, and the Flint community.
I am writing this weekly rundown from Washington, D.C., as I’m attending the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Council of Deans Spring Meeting during peak bloom of cherry blossom season in our nation’s capital.
Like the brief bloom of these lovely trees that flourish for only a short time each spring, Match Day is a short but meaningful milestone in the long road to becoming a physician. A week ago, 173 of our students ripped open envelopes and discovered where their journey with medicine will take them next. The emotions of Match Day are complex. I trust wherever our students go, they will embody the mission, values, and community spirit fostered at the College of Human Medicine.
Here’s a look at some of the Class of 2026 Match Day numbers:

As we continue to celebrate Match Day, visit the College of Human Medicine's webpage and social media channels for news coverage, videos, and photos.
It’s such a big day for our faculty and staff members who work for weeks to make sure everything goes off without a hitch for not only the students, but their family, friends, and loved ones who travel to be by their side during that pivotal moment. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Community Academic Programs, Assistant Dean for Student Career and Professional Development, Director of Student Career Advising, the Community Assistant Deans, Community Student Program Administrators, and Clinical Department Liaisons.
Spring-like weather is slowly but surely making its way into the Great Lakes State. And soon, the beautiful petals of the cherry blossoms will fall, reminding us that, like Match Day, we should keep growing and making room for new beginnings.
In Spartan Spirit,
Supratik Rayamajhi, MD, FACP
Interim Dean, MSU College of Human Medicine
