Bio
Toya serves as the Human Resources Director for the College of Human Medicine, where she leads a team of HR professionals across the East Lansing and Grand Rapids (Secchia Center) campuses. In this role, Toya provides strategic guidance and support to faculty, academic and support staff, department chairs, directors, and administrators on a wide range of human resources matters, including employee relations, classification and compensation, performance management, recruitment, and policy interpretation.
As the college’s HR liaison, Toya collaborates closely with university offices across campus and statewide, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and compliance with HR policies. She is the key MAU (Major Administrative Unit) leader for all human resources functions within the college.
Toya holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management from Baker College, and a master's degree in human resources administration from Central Michigan University. She also earned the Certified Human Resources Specialist (CHRS) designation from Michigan State University.
In her personal time, Toya enjoys traveling with her family, volunteering in her community, and spending time on the golf course.
