Dr. Pearson completed his medical education at Wayne State University and his internship and residency in Family Medicine at the MSU/St. Lawrence Family Practice Residency, where he served as chief resident in his third year. After two years in private practice, Dr. Pearson joined the faculty at MSU College of Human Medicine, where his career has been dedicated to resident education. He has served as both residency and sports medicine fellowship director and is currently a core faculty member of the Sparrow/MSU Family Medicine Residency. His research interests lie in primary care sports medicine, particularly the diagnosis and management of sports concussion.  

Dr. Pearson is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Sports Medicine. He was selected to receive the CHM Outstanding Clinician Award in 2015 and was inducted into the Sparrow Physicians Hall of Fame that same year. Nationally, he serves on the faculty for the National Family Medicine Board Review Course and is a consultant with the AAFP Residency Program Solutions. He has also served as Team Physician for MSU Football since 1994.
