Bio

Benjamin Movsas, MD, FASTRO, FACR, FARS, is interim chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology and professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He is the Herndon Endowed Chair in Oncology Research at Henry Ford Health (HFH), chair of HFH Radiation Oncology Department and medical director of HFH – Cancer. He also serves as the co-chair of the joint Henry Ford-MSU Cancer Committee.

Movsas obtained his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine and completed his residency in radiation oncology at the National Cancer Institute.  

He is a leading international expert in radiation oncology, stereotactic radiation, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and quality of life issues pertaining to cancer. Under his leadership, his department implemented the first FDA-approved combined MRI and linear accelerator unit (ViewRay MRLinac) in the world, which allows for real-time MRI-adaptive tracking and treatment of tumors.  

Movsas has published more than 350 articles on the topics of radiation therapy and cancer in many prestigious medical journals. He serves as the chair of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Patient Centered Outcomes Committee (PCOR) of the NRG cooperative clinical trials group.
