  • How do I create an account?

    All you need to get started is your Advance ID. You can find your Advance ID on a recent gift receipt, the address label of your Spartan Magazine or your by looking up it up on the myalumni page. Click here to get started.

    Your login information is the same for both the Giving to Michigan State and MSU Alumni websites. If you have already activated an account through either of those websites, then simply enter your existing username and password to login. For login assistance, please contact the Advancement Office at 877-678-2586 during business hours, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (EST).

  • Why does my giving differ from my significant other's?

    Your significant other has a separate Advance ID to view their personal giving information. One of you might have been giving longer or might be the primary donor on gifts. These are some of the common reasons your primary giving could differ. For additional information on your giving history, please contact Gift Processing at 616-234-2614 or email chmdevelopment@msu.edu.

  • Is my information on My MSU Giving secure?

    Your privacy is very important to us. We keep your giving information private and safe. The website is encrypted using the https web protocol. Users are authenticated by using their name and Advance ID. Please keep this information private and always log off when using the site.

  • How often is my information updated?

    If you update your contact information or email preferences, your information will be updated by the following business day. Once a gift has been processed, it should appear on your giving history within three to five business days. Gifts made directly to Michgian State Athletics or an MSU-affiliated foundation may be initially processed at the departmental level and take a few additional days to appear on your giving history.

  • Rights Under GDPR - EU

    MSU Advancement may process the personal information of donors and alumni for the purpose of fundraising for the University. Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), individuals located within the European Union (EU) whose personal information the Michigan State University (MSU) Advancement processes have the following rights with respect to this data:

    1. The right to request access to their personal data held by MSU Advancement in an accessible and comprehensible format.
    2. The right to have inaccurate or incomplete personal data rectified or erased without undue delay.
    3. The right to restrict or object, at any time, to the processing of their personal data in certain situations such as the sending and receipt of direct marketing material or automated decision-making without human intervention in certain circumstances.
    4. The right to withdraw consent in those circumstances where MSU Advancement’s processing of personal information is based on the consent of the person whose data is at issue.
    5. The right to report a concern regarding MSU Advancement’s processing of their personal information.
    6. The right to change their communication preferences at any time to restrict how their data is processed, or opt-out of some or all communications from MSU Advancement.
    7. The right to receive the personal data concerning him or her, which he or she has provided to MSU Advancement, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, as well as the right to transmit those data to another controller without hindrance from MSU Advancement.

    Only the minimum necessary information for the purpose of the MSU Advancement will be collected and in a fair and transparent manner. Any personal data retained by MSU Advancement will be erased and no longer processed when the personal data are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they are collected or otherwise processed.
