Perspective, Practice, & Policy: Are We Listening? 

Objectives

  • Pause Check: Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the maternal health landscape for Black women and Black birthing people in the USA.
  • Patient Perspective Check: Participants will be asked to reflect from the viewpoint/ perspective of memorable patients (especially examples where vitals and patient reports weren’t aligned).
  • Checking Myself & Policies in Practice: Participants will be a provided with shareable self and system check phrases to use in practice.

About the Speaker

Amanda Rostic headshot.Amanda Rostic is a public health advocate and filmmaker with over 17 years of experience in health care. She is energized by work centered on health equity, maternal infant health, and health literacy.

Amanda leverages her degrees in biology, chemistry, public health, and epidemiology to participate in equity centered projects across industries.

Last year, she produced Delivering While Black, a powerful documentary addressing the Black maternal health crisis. The film debuted at the American Public Health Association’s annual conference and has since been featured at multiple national and international film festivals.
