Bio

Nagy A. Youssef, MD, PhD, is director of the Division of Psychiatry and Behavior Medicine, supporting the mission of advancing medical education, biomedical research, patient care, and service to the community. He also serves as vice president of research at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services.

Prior to joining Michigan State University and Pine Rest, Dr. Youssef served in several leadership roles at The Ohio State University including director of clinical research, director of the university’s Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Program, and professor of psychiatry Dr. Youssef has also held the role of director of the Mood Disorder and PTSD Research Lab at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia.

Dr. Youssef’s research has been published in The International Journal of Psychiatry in Medicine, along with many other leading peer-reviewed publications, and has earned numerous accolades, including annual American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Awards from 2003—2009. In 2018, Dr. Youssef was presented an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to medical and scientific research and education.
