Bio

Kelly Hodges is the Director of Faculty Development and Mentoring Programs in the College of Human Medicine. In this role she develops and delivers programming for faculty across the career lifespan, and directs the Office of Faculty Affairs which is responsible for review, reappointment, promotion and tenure processes in the college.

Prior to coming to the college in 2021, Kelly spent 22 years in the College of Education in various roles related to teacher preparation, including Associate Director of Teacher Preparation and the Director of Accreditation, Educator Certification and Experiential Education. In these roles she directed ongoing program improvement and assessment activities with a focus on the clinical settings. She also led the work of faculty clinical experience coordinators across four geographic areas, which included providing career support and professional learning for field instructors, mentor teachers, and course instructors.

Prior to coming to MSU, Kelly was a high school mathematics teacher and a mentor teacher in the MSU teacher preparation program. Her atypical route to an academic career has focused on recognizing, elevating and leveraging the wisdom of experienced practitioners in professional preparation.
