Bio
Dr. Angela Thompson-Busch is an associate professor in the Office of Medical Education, Research and Development. She is a board-certified pediatrician who completed a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Michigan before obtaining her Medical Degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her pediatric residency training occurred at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and then she was the co-founder/president/CEO of All About Children Pediatrics in Minneapolis for 13 years.
In 2012, she returned to Grand Rapids. She has worked in various roles at the College of Human Medicine, including pediatric clerkship director, learning society fellow and chief, simulation science director and presently the community assistant dean of the Grand Rapids campus. In this role, she has helped close to 600 medical students match into residency.
In addition to several publications and presentations, Dr. Thompson-Busch represented the College of Human Medicine in the Association of American Medical Colleges’ seven-year pilot of the Entrustable Professional Activities, co-created 76 of the original Shared Discovery Curriculum Didactic Sessions, and continues to teach throughout the four-year medical school curriculum. She has won many teaching awards, the most recent being inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
In her spare time, Dr. Thompson-Busch is a wish granter for Make-A-Wish Foundation, a card maker, and enjoys traveling with her husband and two adult sons.
