On behalf of the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion we would like you to invite you to join us for the College of Human Medicine Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Grand Rounds. At the conclusion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:

  • Define Health care disparities and the impact on obstetric and gynecologic care
  • Define the 3 main barriers or obstacles to OB/GYN care
  • Improve understanding of reduction measures, to reduce health care disparities in OB/GYN

LaKeeya Tucker, DO earned her medical school Degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic
Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. Dr. Tucker then relocated to Michigan after medical school and
completed her intern and residency training at St John Detroit Riverview & Macomb Hospitals in the
Detroit, MI area. After completing residency, she became a partner at Alliance OB/GYN where she has practiced for the last 18 1/2 years. During this time, she has maintained full privileges at Sparrow Hospital and is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Throughout this time, she has been active with many projects and committees, most recently the SCN Physician Relations Advisory Committee. She is now a part of the SCN Quality Advisory Committee. Dr. Tucker is a clinical associate professor for MSU College of Human Medicine and College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is active in many medical societies & actively mentors Residents, interns, medical students, and high school students. As of 1/2020, Dr. Tucker was elected as Chief of Staff Elect of Sparrow Hospital and is active in this role. She will serve a Chief of Staff starting in 2022 for a 2-year term. Dr. Tucker is the first African American to serve in this capacity at Sparrow Hospital. Dr. Tucker is active in community service in the Greater Lansing area. Dr. Tucker aspires to continue making a difference in the lives of others, through education about being healthy, and continually giving back to those who are in need.
