Traverse City

Established in 2009, the Traverse City campus is located at Munson Medical Center. Approximately 20 third- and fourth-year medical students complete their clerkships throughout the Munson Healthcare system’s community hospitals.

Students are highly engaged in the community through service learning and volunteer opportunities through the Street Medicine Program and Special Olympics, assisting with sports physicals, offering geriatric education, tutoring high school students in anatomy and biology classes, and mentoring premedical students

The Traverse City campus offers the Rural Community Health Program (R-CHP) in Alpena, Petoskey and Charlevoix, where students split their clinical training between the community campus and a rural educational site where they live and work for up to 26 weeks. They gain a deeper understanding of the rural health disparities through involvement with public health organizations and other experiences.
