Grand Rapids
At the Grand Rapids campus, approximately 200 of the college’s first- and second-year medical students receive their preclinical education in West Michigan. Established in 1971, the Grand Rapids campus offers students access to the area’s health innovation hub and a diverse, highly talented group of clinical faculty and health care professions from which to learn.
Approximately 140 third- and fourth-year medical students complete their clerkships at Corewell Health, Trinity Health, Pine Rest and medical providers throughout West Michigan.
The Secchia Center is the College of Human Medicine’s headquarters, located along the downtown Medical Mile. The $90 million privately-funded medical education building opened in 2010 as part of the medical school’s expansion. Since then, the Grand Rapids campus has grown its biomedical research footprint through development of the MSU Grand Rapids Innovation Park, which includes the Grand Rapids Research Center (2017) and the Doug Meijer Medical Innovation Center (2021).
Meet the Community Assistant Dean
In addition to serving as community assistant dean in Grand Rapids, Dr. Thompson-Busch is an associate professor in the Office of Medical Education, Research and Development and a board certified pediatrician.
