Tenure System Mentoring Program

The goal of this program is to supplement existing departmental mentoring activities and to assist new tenure system faculty in achieving the award of tenure on the prescribed timeline.

Tenured faculty members are trained as mentors for this program. Mentors and protégés meet periodically during the academic year to:

  • Review progress to date on meeting the college promotion and tenure criteria
  • Establish future goals
  • Determine ways that senior faculty members and mentors can help in achieving those goals

In the spring, each protégé receives written feedback from the program mentors on their progress toward achieving tenure. Twice a year all CHM mentors and protégés meet to participate in professional development seminars.
