Former Dean Beauchamp (’90) Announces Departure

April 16, 2024

Friends,

Dr. Beauchamp has announced that he will be leaving MSU to become Executive Vice President for Health Sciences and Executive Dean for the School of Medicine at Georgetown University. We will certainly miss him. Dr. Beauchamp is an alum of the College of Human Medicine and returned to us as our dean in 2016. In the years that followed, he led us through crisis after crisis, developed the Grand Rapids Innovation Park, brought to life the Henry Ford partnership, and created the Office of Health Sciences. He has been a great fundraiser and advocate for health, hope, and healing everywhere. He has a fundamental and genuine belief that each of us has the power to make the world a better place.

As we wish Norm well – and I know he will be happy to be 50 miles down I-95 from his grandchildren – our work will continue. We have done great work with Norm. Together we have great partners, donors, and colleagues from around the world, and that work will continue unabated. The university will continue to need expertise in health, health care, and health-related research at the highest levels – that structural input is necessary for the partnerships and aspirations of a great university. As always, there are patients to see, students to teach, problems to solve, and communities aching for our collaboration and good will.

Serving the people with you,

Aron
