  • Nara Parameswaran, PhD, has been appointed senior associate dean for research, effective November 1.
  • Congratulations to this year’s newest Gold Humanism Honor Society members inducted on October 24, including 23 College of Human Medicine students and three faculty members.
  • Last month, the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development launched a new cohorted mentoring program for all categories of MSU-paid faculty outside of the tenure system. The 2023-24 CHM Mentoring Circles program includes 25 faculty mentees and 12 faculty mentors that meet in small groups, or "circles," virtually each month to support the progress of mentees toward their first promotion action.
  • Jack Lipton, PhD, chair of the Department of Translational Neuroscience, was recently interviewed on the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke podcast “Building Up the Nerve” on demystifying the early career faculty stage.
  • Ade Olomu, MD, MS, professor of medicine, received an Inspiration Award from the American Medical Association Women Physicians Section (WPS). The AMA WPS Inspiration Award honors and acknowledges physicians who have offered their time, wisdom and support throughout the professional careers of fellow physicians, residents and students.
  • Michael Zaroukian, MD (’80), professor emeritus in the Department of Medicine, has been reappointed co-chair of MDHHS’s Health IT Commission. He will serve another four year term representing medical doctors on the commission.
  • The Bioethics Public Seminar Series resumes November 15. Attend “Clinician Perspectives on Levels of Evidence and Oversight for Deep Brain Stimulation for Treatment-Resistant Childhood OCD” presented by Michelle T. Pham, PhD, assistant professor, Center for Bioethics and Social Justice and the Department of Medicine.
  • The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology will host an upcoming seminar on November 8: "Advancing Maternal Health: Addressing Naternal Morbidity, Mortality and Disparities" with Cristian Meghea, PhD, associate professor.
  • Sean A. Valles, PhD, director of the Center for Bioethics and Social Justice, has been appointed to the board of the Association of Bioethics Program Directors (ABPD) as a member at large.
  • Theresa Couch, CRA, research administration manager, received “Best Poster of the Year” at the Society of Research Administrators International 2023 Annual Meeting. Couch’s presentation “Go with the Flow: An Automated Proposal Intake Process Built in Office 365” maps the automated pre-award process she created for the Health Colleges Research Services office.
