College of Human Medicine only Organization/Group (organization that only exists in the college)

Mission: Our vision is to gather students who have a passion for advocating for and learning how to help vulnerable populations. We would like to have different speakers talk at 3 separate events about different vulnerable populations and ways to get involved in helping that population. Following each event, we would like to volunteer with a community organization who works with the population that was presented on by the previous speaker. We would like to collaborate with other interest groups, such as the Pediatrics Interest Group and Physicians for Social Responsibility, to host these events.

Medical Students for Choice (MSFC)

National Organization (organization that is affiliated with a national membership organization)

Mission: Creating Tomorrow's Abortion Providers and Pro-Choice Physicians

Our Values
We believe that all people should have access to health services that allow them to lead safe, healthy lives including all aspects of sexual and reproductive health consistent with their own personal and cultural values. Our work is guided by the following values:

All reproductive health choices should be freely accessible to all people.
People are the experts on their own bodies and experiences.
All people have the right to make their own decisions regarding sexuality, health, and whether and when to have children.
Sexual health decisions such as abortion affect people of all identities.
All social justice movements intersect and therefore achieving our mission requires working collaboratively to overcome all forms of oppression.
All people are entitled to empathy and compassionate medical care without judgment.
Providing abortion care is a deeply moral decision. Abortion and contraception are vital aspects of medical care that should be embraced as standard practice and as fundamental to medical education.

This organization at CHM is associated with WHIG.

Ultrasound Interest Group (USIG)

College of Human Medicine only Organization/Group (organization that only exists in the college)

Mission: The Ultrasound Interest Group (USIG) aims to provide medical students the opportunity to gain a better understanding of ultrasound techniques that can be carried on to their future medical training and clinical practice. With medicine moving to reduce the use of unnecessary radiation-based imaging studies, ultrasound finds itself in the spotlight as both a cost-effective and safe method of obtaining images of high diagnostic power. Considering the use of ultrasound in almost every facet of medicine, USIG will provide students with the tools necessary to have an introductory understanding of ultrasound imaging.
