Division of Human Pathology
The Division of Human Pathology is involved in both clinical work and research and is shared by the colleges of Human Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine and Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University.
The division's graduate programs lead to master's and doctoral degrees. Graduate education and research may be directed toward either human or animal pathology. Graduate students majoring in pathology usually hold a professional degree in some branch of medicine.
Major areas of research in pathology that provide the basis for advanced degree programs include toxicologic pathology, oncology, neuropathology, hematology, immunopathology, pathology of infectious diseases, reproductive and cardiovascular pathology, breast cancer and pathology of animal models for human disease. Molecular biology and molecular pathogenesis of disease as well as diseases of the tropics are also of interest.
