ESLP Details
What are the goals of the ESLP?
The overall goals of the ESLP are to: 1) increase the number of educational leaders within the College of Human Medicine; 2) provide those educational leaders with the skills they need to be successful in their educational roles; and 3) design, implement and disseminate innovative educational scholarship.
Who is eligible for the ESLP?
The ESLP program is open to all current CHM faculty (clinical, basic science, social science, campus or community-based, or CHM Dean’s Office) interested in improving the quality of medical student education, and interested in educational scholarship. Applicants may currently have or aspire to an educational leadership position within the College.
What is the format of the ESLP?
The ESLP Program will begin Fall Semester, 2008. The program is two years in length, and includes the following activities:
- Full Day Retreat: held at the beginning of each academic year.
- Monthly Meetings: half-day meetings once a month on the East Lansing campus. Activities include core curriculum workshops and seminars, and meetings with educational project mentors.
- Educational Project: each participant must design, develop, implement, and evaluate an educational project that is of benefit to the CHM curriculum and results in a peer-reviewed scholarly product. Participants will be assigned a senior CHM faculty mentor with expertise in their project area.
- Readings and Assignments: related to both the core curriculum and the educational project.
- AAMC meeting: during the second year of the ESLP, participants will participate in the Annual meeting of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) by attending relevant sessions and/or presenting their educational project.
- Educational Project Presentation: participants will present the results of their Educational Projects in the Spring of the second year at Lansing Research Day.
