Joining Forces Veteran's Day Event November 12

Joining Forces is a comprehensive national initiative launched in 2012 by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden to mobilize all sectors of society to give our service members and their families the opportunities and support they have earned. Dean Rappley was invited to join First Lady Michelle Obama at the announcement in Washington, DC.

As a part of Joining Forces, more than 100 medical schools around the country, including Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, have signed a pledge recognizing the sacrifice and commitment of our military service members, veterans, and their families, and have committed to mobilize their integrated missions in education, research, and clinical care to train our nation's physicians to meet the health care needs of the military and their families. is participating in this initiative.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, the College of Human Medicine will be hosting a Joining Forces presentation by 1LT Stephanie Boltrick entitled “Understanding Our Veteran Population: Unique Considerations for Health Professionals.”

As future physicians, even if you will be practicing medicine in the civilian sector, you will treat a significant number of active duty, reserve and retired military personnel and their families. 1LT Boltrick’s presentation will give you important information about serving that unique patient population.

Boxed lunches will be served to all who RSVP by November 8.
